Directory Listing by State and Breed There are many different types of dog rescue organizations. There are, in fact, thousands of them across the country. Some are no kill shelters and others are forced to euthanize dogs when no more room is available. Some organizations have a specific facility to keep the dogs until new homes are found. Others are made up of just a small group of people that take stray dogs into their homes until they can personally place them with a family. There are organizations that are breed specific and others that may work only with small dogs or large dogs or senior dogs etc.Even though the vast majority of these organizations are excellent and are run by caring and giving volunteers, some may not be all that they appear. If you have any doubts about a particular rescue group, ask questions! Those with something to hide will be just as evasive with their answers to your questions.
